Josh FreeseJosh Freese’s career is unknown to most, but he has become one of the most sought after session stickman in the biz. His credits include over 250 albums from just about every popular band/singer from the past 15 years. He was Nine Inch Nails‘ drummer for the past three years.

His new solo album, Since 1972 will be available via digital downloads starting March 24 exclusively at Freese’s site, for $7. The $15 CD/DVD combo will arrive in stores April 14.

Ask whatever you want, like “Is Maynard really THAT weird?” or “Which one of Sting’s mansions has the comfiest beds?” or “Are Devo really suburban robots that monitor reality or just a bunch of dads from Ohio?” or “Why don’t the Vandals play more stuff off the first record?” It’s your 5 minutes to yack it up. Talk about whatever you want.

PUSA Releases iPhone App for $2.99

The Presidents of the United States iPhone AppThe Presidents of the United States of America just released an iPhone app. Their app comes with access to four albums, an early demo tape, and updates. Basically, instead of shelling out $50, or more, for their box set, you get an equivalent collection of music on your iPhone for only $2.99.

Of course, the songs are not available via mp3, but are streamed in random order. However, they make it easy for you to buy any of the songs via the iTunes store.

Dave Dederer, the lead singer of the Presidents of the United States of America, calls the app “a Whitman’s Sampler for the ears.”

Don’t think this will entice other bands to do the same thing because of ownership of recordings. Most bands are at the mercy of their record labels, and we all know how cutting-edge record labels can be. I’m sure they will consider this a good idea in another 3-4 years when everyone else has moved on to better music distribution methods.
